The coastal village of Canh Duong in Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province is known for its breathtaking natural scenery. But now, the 400-year-old village features vibrant murals.
Most visitors to Canh Duong village these days are amazed by new dazzling 3D paintings on walls alongside the road from the village house to beaches.
Pham Thi Tuyet Nhi, a visitor to Canh Duong village told reporters: "I am amused by the mural paintings here. They make me feel so comfy, as there is some sort of intimate connection between people and the sea. It is also amazing that I have had a chance to visit ancient houses. I will definitely come back here someday."
Nguyen Tien Nen, a resident of Canh Duong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province said: "Firstly local people had no ideas why mural paintings were being painted. But when they were finished, everyone turn their head to look to the murals, both local people and visitors."
The murals created in the village were planned in themes that highlight its traditions, including fishing and locals’ love for whales, dolphins and other marine life.
With the murals, the provincial Tourism department plans to list the village among the top destinations in the province, along with such hotspots as the world’s biggest cave Son Doong.
According to Dang Dong Ha, Deputy Director of Quang Binh Department of Tourism, besides hosting experience tours, the Department of Tourism is building a plan to develop tourism. From the initial idea of bringing local fishing activities and daily life to the murals, we are still perfecting them. We are delighted that people like the paintings.
The department will combine the murals and other local cultural identities, including ancient housing fences made with coral, a whale worshipping temple and a festival wishing for bumper catches of fish.-VNA
