This was announced by the Asia-Africa MarketDepartment under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The department said the ministry had recentlyreceived requests from the provincial authorities to trace the origin ofVietnamese fruits imported by China via border gates in Guangxi province.
Thus, from April 1, Chinese enterprisesimporting fruits from Vietnam must provide packaging images containingtraceability and quality information of product when they follow the proceduresfor getting imported animal and plant quarantine permits at Guangxi’s importquarantine management agency.
The department said the enterprises must listthe names of the fruits and their origin as well as the name and code of thepackaging facilities either in Chinese or English.
In addition to this, businesses can add labelswith the above-mentioned information, bar code, quick response code oranti-counterfeiting stamp to be able to be checked any time.
According to the department, in 2017, theGeneral Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine ofChina gave permission to four border gates in Guangxi province to importfruits. Currently, the province has seven border gates allowed the import offruits.
Meanwhile, Guangxi province also imports fruitsfrom Vietnam that have preferential loans for businesses importing them,including dragon fruits, longan and mango.
The Pingxiang China-ASEAN Fruit Import andExport Chamber said the demand for imported fruits in China was huge. Fruitimports in Pingxiang city alone accounts for nearly 50 percent of China’s totalfruit imports.-VNA
