Hanoi (VNA) – Cambodia’s National Assembly beganits plenary session of the fifth legislature on April 7 after a three-monthrecess.
Ninety-nine parliamentarians, including Prime MinisterHun Sen, attended the session.
In a royal letter sent to mark the opening of the session, CambodianKing Norodom Sihamoni expressed his hope that the National Assembly, whichrepresents the Cambodian people, will continue to settle challenges to ensure asolid society with peace, political stability, security, order and sustainable development.
Accordingto the agenda, the National Assembly will discuss a wide range of issues,including the amendment of a trade deal between the Association of SoutheastAsian Nations (ASEAN) and the Republic of Korea.
The parliament will officially recognise Chea Vandeth as a lawmaker ofTakeo province, replacing former Deputy Prime Minister and Cabinet Minister SokAn who died last month.
The Cambodian National Assembly consists of 123 lawmakers,including 68 from the ruling Cambodian People's Party (PPP) and 55 from the opposition CambodiaNational Rescue Party (CNRP). - VNA
