Hanoi (VNA) - The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) said in itsstatement on April 18 that Cambodia had reported the first outbreak of H5N6bird flu virus among the country’s poultry.
The infected poultry was found at a market in Daunkeo district, the southernprovince of Takeo, the OIE citied the information provided by the CambodianMinistry of Agriculture.
The new H5N6 strain was detected by the Pasteur Institute in Cambodia late lastmonth, the statement said, without specifying whether the infected birds werechickens, ducks or other types of poultry.
Cambodia’s animal health authorities have intensified monitoring and set up protectionzones around the affected area following the case. - VNA
