Five Vietnamese airlines, including national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific, Bamboo Airways and VASCO, operated a total of 240,011 flights during the first three quarters, 85.5 percent of which – or 205,244 flights – were punctual, down 0.4 percent from the same period last year.
About 14.5 percent, or 35,301 flights, were cancelled or delayed, the CAAV said.
VASCO came second in punctuality with the on-time performance rate of 93.1 percent, followed by Vietnam Airlines (88.4 percent), Vietjet Air (82.8 percent) and Jetstar Pacific (80.1 percent).
The Civil Aviation Authority blamed overloaded infrastructure and insufficient personnel capacity to causing the cancellations and delays. Bad weather condition was also behind many cases, particularly flights to small local airports./.
