Hanoi (VNA) – The Asia-Pacific Getaway (APG) submarine cable fromVietnam to Singapore, which was crashed on December 23, 2017, will be fixedfrom January 6-7, according to an Internet services supplier in Vietnam.
The repair is expected to finish on January 7.
Since the cable was broken, network operators in Vietnamhave carried out backup measures to minimise damage for consumers.
To deal with the problem, VNPT prioritises Internet trafficon other submarine cables operating stably such as Asia-Africa-Europe 1 (AAE-1)and Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe (SMW-3) to assure the connectionquality.
The 10,400km long Asia-Pacific Gateway is an undersea cablesystem linking 8 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region, namelyMalaysia, Singapore, China, China’s Hong Kong and Taiwan, Japan, the Republicof Korea, and Vietnam.-VNA
