The two-day event is organised by VinAI Research - the tech arm of Vingroup, the biggest conglomerate of Vietnam, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the National Innovation Centre.
It brings together leading researchers, policymakers and practitioners from all over the world to exchange on how AI is transforming societies, economies, and the environment.
Under the theme of ‘Empower the Future’, AI Day 2022 features three tracks: AI for Global Equality, AI for Sustainable Development, and AI for Safety.
Specifically, during the discussion on AI and Sustainable Development, speakers analyse the social and environmental impacts of designing, developing and implementing AI systems. From a macro perspective, this session is expected to explore the opportunities and challenges brought by AI with an ambition to change lives across the globe.
On the topic of ‘AI and Safety,’ speakers are expected to scrutinise the development and enhancement of reliable and precise AI systems.
Meanwhile, the discussion on AI and Global Equality compares the differences between Vietnam and the world in the research and application of technology in general and artificial intelligence in particular.

The two-day event features keynote presentations from industry leaders, expert panel discussions covering the topics that matter in AI today, casual talks, hands-on workshops and educational tutorials.
Participants are also exposed to advanced AI products and features in the exhibition booths of VinAI and prestigious sponsors.
The event plays host to industry-leading experts, researchers and scientists, including Prof. Wolfram Burgard, Professor for Robotics and AI, under the Technical University of Nuremberg; Prof. Alexander J. Smola, Distinguished Scientist/VP, Amazon Web Services (AWS); and Prof. William T. Freeman, Thomas and Gerd Perkins Professor of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, MIT, among others.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy said AI is among critical technologies contributing to the socio-economic development of countries, including Vietnam, and it has affirmed its role and importance amid the complex developments of COVID-19.
The application of AI will be bolstered for post-pandemic economic recovery, together with potential fields and solutions to connect research and application and domestic and international AI organisations.
He added that Vietnam is building an AI startup ecosystem to attract venture funds, whose support will help turn AI into a key technology driving Vietnam’s development, making the country an AI research and application hub in the region and the world./.
