Quang Binh (VNA) – The central province of Quang Binh has recentlydiscovered 58 more caves, Director of the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National ParkManagement Board Le Thanh Tinh announced on December 12.
All the new caves are located in Minh Hoadistrict, Tinh said, adding that documents on the caves will be handed over toan expert delegation of the British Cave Research Association for furtherstudy.
Quang Binh is famous for its caves, mountainscenery and sprawling beaches. Its Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park wasrecognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003 due to its impressivescenery and archaeological value.
Last year, Son Doong Cave, located in theheart of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, was recognised as the largest ofits kind by three international organisations, including Guinness ( based inthe UK), the Association World Record (based in Hong Kong) and WorldKings(based in the US and India).
The 1,645m-long cave system, which extends through a mountain, was namedone of the most captivating caves on earth by National Geographic as well.-VNA
