– Many activities celebrating Vietnamese traditional new yearfestival (Tet), which falls on February 16 this year, have been held among theVietnamese community abroad.

A ceremony to pray for happiness, peace and prosperity was held at BuddhaVihara pagoda in New Delhi, India, on February 16 (the first day of the LunarNew Year), bringing together monks and nuns, and representatives from the VietnameseEmbassy in the country.

Venerable Thich Hanh Chanh, President ofRepresentatives of Vietnamese monks and followers in India, read the New Yearletter from Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue, Supreme Patriarch of the VietnamBuddhist Sangha (VBS).

Participants chanted and prayed for peace, luckiness and happiness in thelunar New Year.

Previously, in his speech in the New Year’s Eve on February 15, Ambassador TonSinh Thanh wished all staff of the embassy, those working in agencies to theembassy and Vietnamese expats working and study in India a successful and happyNew Year.

At a recent get-together to celebrate the Yearof the Dog with Dutch friends and representatives from diplomaticagencies in the Netherlands, Vietnamese Ambassador to the European country NgoThi Hoa stressed 2017 witnessed the fruitful development of theVietnam-Netherlands relations.

She thanked ministries, sectors, individuals and organisations of theNetherlands, as well as diplomatic delegations and international organisations inthe country for their support for Vietnam in 2017.

She hoped Vietnam will continue receiving cooperation and assistance from itspartners and friends, thus making greater achievements in the coming time.

On the occasion of the Tet festival, overseas Vietnamese in France shared theirdesires and plans to promote economic ties between the two nations in 2018.
