Hanoi (VNA) – Overseas Vietnamese worldwide arecelebrating the 2017 Lunar New Year with traditional New Year treats and artperformances.
A celebration hosted by the Embassy of Vietnam in Indonesia onJanuary 23 brought together nearly 300 Vietnamese expatriates and staff membersof Vietnamese representative offices.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Hoang Anh Tuan took the occasion to expresshis thanks to international friends and partners for their continuous supportand cooperation.
He highlighted the achievements Vietnam has made in building andprotecting the nation, reiterating the OVs community in Indonesia is aninseparable part of the nation.
On January 22, more than 200 OVs also gathered at a Tetcelebration in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Israel Cao Hoang Quoc Hai highlight thegrowing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Israel over the past 25 years,saying that Israel is one of Vietnam’s most important economic partners in theMiddle East.
In 2016, the two nations’ trade value exceeded 1.3 billion USD. Thetwo are conducting negotiations on a bilateral free trade agreement towards thegoal of raising the bilateral trade value to three billion USD.
The Embassy of Vietnam in New Zealand also organised a gatheringin Wellington for compatriots to welcome the Tet festival.-VNA
