Hanoi (VNA) – After working with Vietnamese authorities,YouTube and Facebook have removed 3,000 clips and over 600 accounts deemedinappropriate or slanderous toward Vietnamese individuals and organisations.
This development was announced by Nguyen Thanh Lam, Director ofthe Agency of Broadcasting and Electronic Information under the Ministry ofInformation and Communications at a meeting late last week.
Facebook, YouTube and Google make up for 60 to 70 percent ofadvertising revenue in Vietnam, while online newspapers and news websites sharethe small remainder, said the director.
Businesses like VCCorp, VNG and Yeah1 Network pointed out thatFacebook and YouTube are active in Vietnam, with a large number of users andhigh profits, but they are seldom regulated despite many violations.
The enterprises, who face stricter regulations, said that theywant more equity of punishment.-VNA
