Hanoi (VNA) – The YouthSpeak Forum 2017 held in Hanoi onOctober 22 provided a platform for youngsters to discuss social issues and seekactive actions towards the goal of sustainable economic growth and employment.
The target is part of the 17 United Nations sustainable developmentgoals (SDGs) focusing on tackling three main problems of poverty, genderinequality and environmental pollution.
Pham Hoang Hai from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry saidthat the youth plays an important role in the development of all fields,especially economic growth.
However, he said, the ratio of unemployment in youths remains high. By2020, the fourth Industrial Revolution is forecast to make skills of millionsof youngsters in Vietnam backward in only few years, he noted, stressing thatthe youth is most vulnerable to the change, requiring them to renovate fortheir global integration.
Tran Vu Hoai from the Unilever Vietnam said that in order to complete thegoal, it is necessary to build sustainable targets for smaller products. Heheld that youngsters should update themselves with social rules, while settingspecific targets and making practical actions for achieving personal, nationaland global goals.
At the same time, Dieu Linh from University of Fisheries said that shehopes the fulfillment of the SDGs will make positive influence on themaintenance of a stable and safe environment amidst climate change impacts.
The event was an annual project by the AIESEC, an independentnon-governmental organization on youth leadership, which has been organised in126 countries worldwide. This year, the forum attracted 500 delegates who are leadersof enterprises and social activists.
During the forum, they gave initiatives and measures to turn the ideasinto reality, thus contributing to the implementation of the 17 UN MDGs, whilediscussing challenges facing the youth during the fourth Industrial Revolution.-VNA
