Young Vietnamese to meet with Lao peers

Sixty delegates from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCM CYU) will attend the Vietnam - Laos Youth Friendship Meeting 2009 scheduled for between October 2-9 in Laos.
Sixty delegates from the Ho Chi MinhCommunist Youth Union (HCM CYU) will attend the Vietnam - Laos YouthFriendship Meeting 2009 scheduled for between October 2-9 in Laos.

The HCMCYU told the press in Hanoi on Sept. 28 that the delegation ofVietnamese young people, led by the Secretary of the HCMCYU CentralCommittee Duong Van An, will take part in meetings in Vientiane andLuang Prabang and Xieng Khuang provinces.

This is an important external political activity of the HCMCYU whichwill consolidate and enhance the traditional relationship, specialsolidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the young people ofboth countries and between the HCMCYU and the Laotian People’sRevolutionary Youth Union (LPRYU).

At the meetings, the HCMCYU and LPRYU representatives are expected tosign a bilateral cooperation agreement for the 2010-2011 period inwhich they will work with the Cambodian Youth Association in theVietnam-Laos-Cambodia development triangle investment programme underthe Vientiane Declaration.

The HCMCYU will announce its decision to help Laos build theLaos-Vietnam Friendship Palace in Vientiane and the Vietnam-Laos YouthFriendship Village in a Laos border province.

The Vietnamese delegates will tour a number of economic and culturalestablishments in Luang Prabang and Xieng Khuang provinces.

The Vietnam-Laos Youth Friendship Meetings began in 1999 and are heldannually. They are part of the close relations between the HCMCYU andLPRYU, besides their regular visits, cooperation in personnel trainingand mutual help in encouraging farming and business activities by theirmembers./.
