Yen Bai (VNA) – A conference to review the project on protecting human trafficking victims, funded by World Vision, was held in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai on June 16.
Over the past years of implementing the project, the provincial Women’s Union has made a list and provided assistance for hundreds of victims and vulnerable individuals across the province.
As many as 27 returning victims have received financial aid exceeding 300 million VND (13,500 USD) to settle down their lives. Another 10 have been admitted to the local Centre for Social Work and Protection.
The project has also set up two self-help teams in An Phu commune, Luc Yen district and Cau Thia ward in Nghia Lo town.
Delegates agreed on measures to sustain the outcomes of the project, including continued support for returning victims, monitoring vulnerable cases, and organising training courses to raise legal understanding and awareness of human trafficking.
Since 2011, the province has recorded 43 cases of human trafficking.-VNA
