Year’s first pottery batch goes to Russia

A batch of Chu Dau Pottery, a famous product of the northern province of Hai Duong, was shipped to Russia on February 22 opening export activities for the Year of the Tiger 2010.

According to Nguyen Van Luu, Director of the Chu Dau Pottery Enterprise, Russia is a major importer of Chu Dau Pottery. The year’s firstshipment to this market includes 2,500 sets of products worth 30,000USD.

The enterprise exports the ceramic products, which are known for itsstriking shapes, colours, patterns and meticulous vignettes to Russia ,Japan , the Republic of Korea and European countries.

The enterprise is urgently building a so-called “ceramic garden”highlighting the 500-year old pottery making art of Chu Dau tocelebrate the 1,000 th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi in October thisyear, he added.

Chu Dau pottery products are now preserved at 42 prestigious museums in32 countries worldwide. Together with the Ngoc Lu Bronze Drum, Chu DauPottery is displayed at the UN headquarters representing Vietnameseculture./.
