Speaking at an event on preserving Vietnam’s naturalheritage, held on the sidelines of the ongoing 15th meeting of theConference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in Canada, Lambertininoted that the Southeast Asian nation has taken drastic actions to fulfillinternational biodiversity commitments.
The WWF will continue its close coordination withthe Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) during theimplementation of the national biodiversity targets.
He also stressed the significance of expandingpartnerships, including public-private partnership, to the realisation of theNational Biodiversity Strategy by 2030 with a vision towards 2050.
In a pre-recorded speech, Minister Tran Hong Haaffirmed Vietnam’s strong support and commitment to materialising internationalinitiatives and commitments in a responsible manner.
A representative from the Vietnamese BiodiversityConservation Agency (BCA) spoke of cooperation priorities in biodiversityconservation to successfully implement the National Biodiversity Strategy,which received support from partners, especially the World Bank (WB), theEuropean Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), amongothers./.
