World Vision International, an organisation dedicated to supporting children and vulnerable populations worldwide, has provided over 14 million USD in humanitarian aid for the central province of Quang Tri over the last 15 years.
The figure was announced at a conference to review the implementation of the organisation’s activities in Trieu Phong and Vinh Linh districts held on September 11.
During the period, World Vision carried out a number of support projects in healthcare, education, agriculture, risk reduction and ability improvement.
World Vision-funded projects have helped reduce the rate of impoverished households in Vinh Linh district to 5.64 percent in 2014.
Its programmes has benefited more than 11,000 households in Trieu Phong district, bringing the household poverty rate to 8.9 percent in 2015.
The organisation also supported the two districts in reforming teaching methods at kindergartens and primary schools, facilitating access to education for disabled children and improving educational infrastructure facilities.
The People’s Committees of Vinh Linh and Trieu Phong districts and World Vision have signed agreements to hand over projects and continue efforts to ensure social welfare activities.-VNA
