World Bank’s support, assistance to poverty fight praised

Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan has spoken highly of the World Bank’s support and assistance to Vietnam in the fight against poverty.

Receiving WB Vietnam country director Victoria Kwakwa in Hanoi onJune 24, Nhan further said the front valued consultations and assistancefrom the bank to Vietnam , especially its very effective projectsand programmes.

He expressed his hope that the bankwill continue financing Vietnam to invest in essentialinfrastructure projects for locals in mountainous areas and the poorhouseholds, as well as the programme on building the new-style ruralareas.

For her part, Kwakwa praised the closecoordination between the bank and the Vietnamese government, especiallyin poverty eradication in Vietnam. She also said she hopes forfurther cooperation between the two sides in the fields of mutualinterest in the time to come./.
