– The Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) and the Embassy of Indonesiajointly held a workshop on relations between the two countries in Hanoi onOctober 26.

Themed “Reflection ofthe 65 years of Vietnam-Indonesia relations and the way forward,” the event broughttogether more than 100 delegates from ministries, agencies, researchinstitutes, associations and businesses.

In his openingremarks, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung stressedthe similarities shared by the two countries as well as their time-honouredfriendship.

Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Mahendra Siregar saidapart from the close political ties, bilateral cooperation in other spheres hasalso proven effective.

IndonesianAmbassador Ibnu Hadi said the establishment of the strategic partnershipin 2013 has lifted the bilateral ties.

Thedelegates shared the view on the necessity to bolster the two nations'  pragmatic cooperation in thecontext of the complex developments of the international situation, theCOVID-19 pandemic and an array of security issues.

Cooperationbetween Vietnam and Indonesia, both bilaterally and multilaterally, has practicallycontributed to the building of the ASEAN Community, and consolidating the grouping’scentral role in the architecture of the Indo-Pacific region.

Therefore,the two countries should continue to pragmatically implement the jointstatement on enhancing the strategic partnership in 2018, and the actionprogramme for 2019-2023, while stepping up high-level exchanges, strategicconsultations and coordination at multilateral mechanisms.

Thedelegates also suggested Vietnam and Indonesia optimise their cooperationpotential as well as advantages of the fourth Industrial Revolution to bringthe bilateral relations forward./.
