Hanoi (VNA) – A “Week ofVietnamese Goods in Thailand” will be held in from September 18-22at Central World, Bangkok’s biggest shopping mall, according to Nick Reitmeier, Vice Executive President ofFoothalls International Food & Alcohol Buying at Central Food Retail Co, Ltd. under Central Group, Thailand.
Speaking at a conference in Ho Chi Minh City on May 7,Reitmeier said the annual event aims to give Vietnamese firms a chance toexplore the demand of local consumers, thus promoting their products andincreasing export to Thailand.
Hesaid Vietnam hasa lot of high quality products, but there is a lack of knowledge about theseproducts in Thailand, as well as brand building from Vietnamese businesses, hesaid.
He saidVietnamese businesses must thoroughly research the Thai market and understandthat famous brands in Vietnam may not have the same popularity in Thailand.
Vietnam exportsmany high-quality raw materials for foreign businesses, but Vietnamese brandedproducts are not well-known, he noted.
Local businessesshould differentiate themselves from domestic brands in Thailand, communicatingtheir high quality to Thai consumers and paying attention to package design, headded.
During the conference, more than 120 enterprises of Ho ChiMinh City learned about standards for goods sold in international distribution andimport systems of Thailand.
At the event, many enterprises said that to enter Thaisupermarkets, businesses must meet many strict regulations from legal frameworkof the Thai government to different regulations of distributors.
At the same time, businesses must continuously modernise theproduction process to improve their products’ quality and reduce costs tomaintain competitiveness, they said.
According to the Investment andTrade Promotion Centre (ITPC), various promotion activities have been held to helpVietnamese firms access modern distribution channels, meet strict requirementsof markets and introduce their products to consumers in different countries.-VNA
