Hanoi (VNA) - The World Bank (WB) has approved a 200-million-USD credit toMyanmar through the Development Policy Operation (DPO) programme to help thecountry maintain a stable growth and reduce poverty.
Accordingto the WB’s announcement on April 28, the credit is to assist the Myanmar Governmentin promoting macro-economic stability and fiscal resilience and increase budgetresources for people’s greater access to quality public services.
TheWB-supported DPO programme includes reforms, which aim to address challengessuch as rising inflation, public debt sustainability, efficiency of governmentspending and tax collections.
Theprogramme is designed to benefit poor and vulnerable people through reductionin price pressures. It also provides long-term and concessional financing forcritical public investments.
Theprogramme will undertake reforms to promote prudent public debt management and policy-basedbudgeting, and to increase state revenue collections by boosting prudent gasrevenue management and effective public finance management.-VNA
