Over 400 war veterans who used to serve on the Truong Sa (Spratly)archipelago gathered at a meeting in the central coastal city of NhaTrang on April 24 to mark the 40 th anniversary of the liberation ofTruong Sa.
At the meeting, Le Xuan Ba, former ViceChairman of Political Affairs of Naval Zone 4, looked back on themilitary campaign which liberated the archipelago on April 29, 1975,
contributing to the liberation of the entire southern region and reunification of the country.
XuanBa, who also once served as Chairman of Truong Sa district People’sCommittee, described the remarkable changes in the islands over the past40 years, particularly the enhanced living standards of both soldiersand civilian communities in the district.
Thewar veterans later floated lanterns in Nha Trang Bay to pay tribute tothe fallen soldiers, who sacrificed their lives to protect the nation’sterritorial skies and waters.-VNA
