Hanoi (VNA) – Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Union of FriendshipOrganisations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phonghas affirmed that the union pays greatattention to partnership with the Institute of Argentine-Vietnamese Culture(ICAV) and hopes to further promote the ties.
Meetingwith a visiting delegation from theinstitute led by President Poldi Maria SosaSchmidt in Hanoi onMarch 22,Phong affirmed that theICAV has been a direct and close partner of the VUFO.
Since its establishment 20 years ago, theinstitute has contributed to the growth of the Vietnam-Argentina relationsthrough activities such as holding photo exhibitions and film screenings, andpublishing a bulletin on Vietnam, among others, he said.
Phongheld that despite the long distance, the people of the two countries have giveneach other warmest sentiments.
Herecalled the support of Argentina to Vietnam during the struggle for national independence,while noting that bilateral ties have been growing with 23 bilateral agreements.
Lastyear, two-way trade reached about 3 billion USD, he said, adding that Vietnamis among prioritised markets of Argentina in Asia.
Onher part, Poldi Maria Sosa Schmidt lauded the fruitful cooperation between theVUFO and ICAV over the past years, expressing hope to further strengthen theirrelations.
Shesaid that her visit aims to deepen the solidarity between Vietnam andArgentina, learn more about the country and people of Vietnam and seek measuresto bolster affiliation and mutual support between the two sides in a number ofpromising areas.-VNA
