The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) held aconference reviewing people-to-people relationships between Vietnam andother countries in the first six months of 2015 and to outline plans forthe remaining months of the year.
Deputy Chairman and GeneralSecretary of the VUFO Don Tuan Phong highlighted major tasks for thelast six months of the year, especially bolstering internationalfriendship activities on the occasion of the 70 th anniversary of thecountry’s National Day, VUFO’s 65 th Traditional Day and the 20 thanniversary of Vietnam-US diplomatic ties.
The VUFO plans to establish the Vietnam-Nepal Friendship Association in the time ahead.
Inthe first half of the year, the union hosted several major eventsincluding an international gathering marking the 40th anniversary of theliberation of Southern Vietnam and national reunification, programmestracking President Ho Chi Minh’s journeys in China, Laos and Thailand onthe occasion of the President’s 125th birthday, and a Vietnam-ChinaBorder Festival.
The union received 171 aid projects withtotal committed funding of 42.5 million USD from foreignnon-governmental organisations in the reviewed period, focusing on thefields of health, education, community development, climate changeresilience and social affairs.-VNA
