VNA pledges to intensify ties with Lao news agency

Vietnam News Agency (VNA) General Director Nguyen Duc Loi has pledged that VNA will continue boosting ties with the Lao news agency KPL, contributing to further consolidating the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

During a November 18 meeting with Lao Deputy Prime Minister Asang Laolias part of his ongoing visit to Laos from November 14-19, the VNA chiefstressed that the agency attaches much importance to cooperation withKPL in its external policies.

Briefing his host onthe outcomes of the talks between VNA and KPL, he noted that in 2013,the two agencies have worked closely and effectively in all fields,including exchanges of delegations, reporters as well as information.

Speaking highly of VNA’s cooperation with and supportto KPL over the decades, Deputy PM Asang Laoli emphasised that theVietnam-Laos special friendship has been deepened in all fields, thusmass media in general and the two news agencies in particular, shouldexert more efforts to help people of both countries get a deeperunderstanding of the friendship and work more closely to maintain theties for younger generations.

He suggested that thetwo sides continue their close coordination and mutual support,especially in information, technology and personnel training, thuscompleting the tasks assigned by the two Parties and States.

The same day, General Director Loi also met with Bosengkham Vongdala, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism.

VNA and KPL agreed to continue improving the quality of their dailyexchanged news and further the popularisation of the Vietnam-Laosspecial relationship in 2014, during the November 14 talks betweenGeneral Director Loi and his KPL counterpart Sounthone Khanthavong.-VNA
