Loi made the statement at aMay 10 working session with newly-accredited ambassadors and consulgenerals who are about to leave the country for their 2013-2016 overseasmissions.
VNA wishes to continue receivingeffective cooperation from Vietnamese representative offices that supplyinformation in countries where the agency has yet to establish bureaus,he said.
He called on the ambassadors and consulgenerals to assist VNA bureaus abroad in promoting the agency’s foreignnews service.
Briefing them on VNA’s nearly 70-yeardevelopment, Loi said the agency has over 2,300 employees and a rangeof products such as printed newspapers , e-newspapers and the VNEWSTelevision Channel.
The agency has establishedrelationships with 40 partners across the world, looking towards amultimedia communication network, added the VNA General Director.
Apart from 63 bureaus in cities and provinces nationwide, VNA has setup 30 bureaus overseas that play an important role in providinginformation serving leadership and management requirements of the Partyand the State.
They have also supported officesstudying national strategic issues during the country’s comprehensiveinternational integration while reflecting regional and internationalissues, Loi said.
On behalf of the ambassadors anddelegation of chief representatives, Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada ToAnh Dung said he highly values the strengths and performance of thenational news agency over the past time, especially its foreign newsservice.
Highlighting the importance of foreign newssources, the ambassador pledged close coordination and favourableconditions for VNA’s overseas bureaus, contributing to the jointdiplomatic mission.
The chief representatives saidthey are willing to partner with the agency in objecting erroneousinformation about Vietnam published in foreign newspapers whileincreasing information on the relationships Vietnam has with othercountries.
They suggested VNA accelerates itsonline news, make the best use of photography in news and promptlyprovide information about the country’s development as well as thepolicies of the Party and State to the overseas Vietnamese community.-VNA
