VN, Lao Red Cross promote cooperation

Secretary of Lao Party Committee Chansy Phosikham has expressed hope that the Vietnamese and Lao Red Cross (LRC) will promote cooperation in activities in localities, particularly those sharing the same border.

At a reception for a delegation of Vietnam Red Cross(VNRC) led by its President Tran Ngoc Tang in Vientiane on Feb. 29,Phosikham said he hopes VNRC will assist its Lao counterpart in manypriority fields, such as poverty reduction and coping with naturaldisasters to mark the 50 th anniversary of the two countries’diplomatic ties and 35 th anniversary of the signing of Vietnam – LaosAmity and Cooperation Treaty.

President Tang saidVNRC will continue sharing experience in operation, fundraising for RedCross activities, training and human resource development.

On the occasion, VNRC presented 100,000 USD to the LRC to helpimplement agricultural projects in Lao localities bordering Vietnam, in abid to promote poverty reduction.

The VNRC delegation will leave Laos on March 2.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year

Chinese sick sailor on vessel AMIS STAR provided with first aid
