Vietnam’s membership of thecommission shows the international community’s high appreciation towardthe country’s achievements in social development over the past years aswell as its contribution to the global social growth.
Being the commission’s member, Vietnam will have chances to makemore contributions to policy making and goal and action plan building ona global scale, promoting social progress and strengthening informationexchange among governments in developing and implementing socialdevelopment policies on the national scale.
TheCommission is holding its 50th annual session at the UN Headquarters inNew York from Feb. 1-10, focusing on poverty eradication, full andproductive employment and socially inclusive policies.
Established in 1946, the Commission is a functional body of the Economicand Social Council. Its 46 members are elected for four-year terms inoffice./.
