Binh Thuan(VNA) – An inauguration ceremony was held for the Vinh Tan internationalseaport in Vinh Tan commune, Tuy Phong district, the southern province of BinhThuan on April 20.

The port was built on 140 ha at a cost of around 2.3 trillion VND invested bythe Vinh Tan International Port Co. Ltd, from the Thai Binh Duong Group.

It has a 3,000 DWT wharf and two 50,000 DWT wharves, and will have a 70,000 DWTwharf in the near future.

The port will servethe import-export of commodities of Binh Thuan, and provinces in the southcentral and Central Highlands regions.

Nguyen Ngoc Hai, Chairman of the Binh Thuan People’s Committee said the port canbe easily connected with industrial zones in Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan and theCentral Highlands, helping reduce transport costs and spur marine economygrowth.

Bui Thien Thu, Deputy Head of the Vietnam Maritime Administration said the ThaiBinh Duong Group’s building of the Vinh Tan international port is to realizethe State’s policy of encouraging economic sectors, especially the private one,to invest in economic infrastructure development.-VNA
