Vinh Phuc (VNA) – The northern province of VinhPhuc has invested 3.32 trillion VND (143.4 million USD) in upgrading local medicalinfrastructure in the 2016-2020 period.
The amount was spent on building a 1,000-bed provincial GeneralHospital and a 500-bed provincial Hospital of Obstetrics & Gynecology; perfecting hospitals and medical centres in Tam Dao, Vinh Tuong,Phuc Yen, and Song Lo districts; and upgrading 72 health stations in communes,wards and townships.
Thanks to theinvestment, as of 2019, all communal medical stations had met nationalstandards, higher than the country’s average ratio of 76.5 percent.
The upgrading ofmedical equipment has helped develop technical services in hospitals,especially intensive techniques in provincial-level hospitals.
Along withprovincial hospitals, medical centres in districts have also received modernmedical equipment.
Together withinvestment in infrastructure, Vinh Phuc has approved a financial autonomymechanism for 13 out of 15 units of the health sector, which means they areresponsible for 100 percent of regular spending. This has helped save nearly200 billion VND of the regular expensesfor the provincial budget annually,contributing to enhancing the activeness of medical establishments as well asthe efficiency and quality of their services.
Meanwhile, the local health care sector has reformed 14administrative procedures, while making public service charges and reducing thewaiting time for patients./.
