Vinh Long province to amend development master plan

Vinh Long (VNA) - The Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long isplanning to make changes to its socio-economic master plan toreflect changes on the ground.

Truong Dang Vinh Phuc, Director of the provincialDepartment of Planning and Investment, told a conference last week that thechanges would focus on industry, industrial complex infrastructure, ruralagriculture, culture-tourism, transport infrastructure, urban housingdevelopment, and trade services.

The province’s main sectorsare agriculture, food processing, energy, manufacture and repair ofagricultural machinery and vehicles, wood processing, garment and textiles, andfootwear.

Le Quang Trung, Vice Chairman of the provincialPeople’s Committee, said this year Vinh Long plans to improve its growth modelsby enhancing labour productivity and competitiveness. 

It plans to enhance cooperation with otherlocalities in the delta to develop its services and tourism sectors, hesaid. 

The province would continue to restructureagriculture by building new rural areas and focus on building value chains forand promoting its major agricultural products.

Last year, the province’s agricultural outputhad been worth 10.59 trillion VND, according to the provincial People’sCommittee.-VNA
