Vinh Long marks 76th founding anniversary of Hoa Hao Buddhism

The Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long held a ceremony on July 1 to mark the 76th founding anniversary of Hoa Hao Buddhism (1939-2015).

Atthe event, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee NguyenThi Thu Ha spoke highly of the contributions made by the Hoa Haofollowers to the community. She expressed her belief that the religionwill continue to strengthen national unity and support campaigns run bythe Vietnam Fatherland Front.

She asked relevantorganisations to look after resident livelihoods including Hoa Haofollowers, considering it a crucial mission to build nationalsolidarity.

Vinh Long province is currently home to 30,000 HoaHao followers who have carried out a raft of activities to help theimpoverished.

Founded in 1939 in An Giang province,the Hoa Hao Buddhism sect now has over 2 million followers in 19 citiesand provinces nationwide-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
