Ho Chi MinhCity (VNA) – Dried fruit producer, Vinamit JSC, annouced that ithas secured organic certificates for cultivation and processing of farm produceissued by the US Department of Agriculture and EU-based Ecocert organisation.
80products, three farms and two processing and packaging lines of Vinamit havefulfilled criteria from the two institutions.
Richard deBoer from the Control Union Certifications said Vinamit’s strength is having remotefarms with upstream water sources, which are yet to be affected by human andindustrial activities.
The companyhas long produced clean products, making it easier for Vinamit to gain organiccertification, he noted.
VinamitChairman Nguyen Lam Vien said the accreditation opens the door for Vietnamesedried fruit to enter markets with higher demands on import quality, such as theUS, EU and Japan.
Establishedin 1988, Vinamit, which is headquartered in the southern province of BinhDuong, posts annual average growth of between 30 percent and 50 percent.
The companyhas also obtained certificates from the US Food and Drug Administration andproduces Halal and Kosher products. It is also ready to receive certificatesfrom the BRC Food Safety Standard and the International Featured Standards inearly 2017./.
