Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s largest dairy producer Vinamilk promoted its “double standard” organic milk among other fresh milk products at the FHC Shanghai Global Food Trade Show 2021, which took place in China’s Shanghai from November 9 – 11.

Launched 25 years ago, the FHC Shanghai Global Food Trade Show has become one of the industry’s leading trade shows in the world. Last year, the expo attracted more than 2,500 exhibitors and nearly 200,000 visitors from around 50 countries worldwide despite COVID-19.

Vinamilk brought to the event its three fresh milk products – organic, skimmed and pasteurised – which are the first exported by Vinamilk to China. Vinamilk’s “double standards” organic fresh milk satisfies both EU and Chinese Organic standards.

These products have been available for sale at Jingdong’s retail stores in Shanghai, along with the early implementation of online sales on ecommerce platforms.

Lucy Lu, a representative of Vinamilk’s business partners, said Shanghai is a very promising market for high-end products because people here have relatively high incomes and are ready to spend more on healthy products.

She said she expects that Vinamilk’s organic dairy products will be well received by consumers thanks to the “double standards” and savoury flavour.

On the first day of the expo, Vinamilk received many organic fresh milk orders from foreign partners, which shows the market’s positive perception for these products, Lu added.

With a well-established network of dairy farms and factories across the country that meet EU organic standards, Vinamilk was quick to obtain organic certification for the Chinese market.

The company has also put great effort into designs and packaging not only to satisfy the distinctive taste of Chinese consumers but also to ensure product quality during transportation. Additionally, each milk box is provided with a specific serial number for traceability and quality control, on top of the organic certification mark.

Vinamilk has sent its first batch of organic dairy products to Shanghai despite various challenges posed by months-long COVID-19-induced social distancing orders in many cities and provinces.

The firm also promoted the products among local business partners and people shortly after Shanghai returned to the “new normal,” with trade promotion events allowed to carry on normally.

As many countries started entering the “new normal” phase, Vinamilk has without delay participated in trade promotion events to expand its presence overseas, according to Vo Trung Hieu, International Business Director at Vinamilk.

Citing Shanghai as an example, Hieu said the city is the regional gateway for trade and business. By introducing its fresh dairy products here, Vinamilk will be able to maximise opportunities to access consumers, expand its network and improve its brand recognition.

He expects that Vinamilk’s fresh dairy products will not only succeed in entering the new market but will also help open many new opportunities for the company.

Vinamilk currently runs a network of 17 dairy factories both in Vietnam and overseas. They have 15 dairy farms with a total of nearly 160,000 milch cows. Braving challenges in the past two years due to COVID-19, Vinamilk has maintained stable production and business growth, especially posting impressive export growth.

In 2020, export revenue reached 5.56 trillion VND (242 million USD), up 7.5 percent compared to 2019. In the first six months of 2021, Vinamilk's export activities recorded double-digit growth, reaching 2.8 trillion VND, up 13.1 percent compared to 2020.

The company posted a quarterly record-high consolidated revenue of over 16.2 trillion VND (706.57 million USD) in the third quarter of 2021, up 4.1 percent year-on-year. Its Q3 consolidated after-tax profit edged up 3.4 percent from a year earlier to over 2.96 trillion VND.

The company is continuously expanding its foothold in the world. It is investing in the US, New Zealand, Cambodia, Laos and most recently it has set up a joint venture in the Philippines with Del-Monte which expects to launch products this month./.
