Vietsovpetro launches topsides of super-size platform

Hanoi (VNA) – Topsides weighing more than 5,000 tonnes of gas extraction platform BK Thien Ung has been successfully launched by the Vietnam-Russia joint venture Vietsovpetro.

The firm said on September 13 that BK Thien Ung is a super-size structure, weighing more than 15,000 tonnes. It delivers gas extracted from Thien Ung and Dai Dung fields to the mainland.

The platform is among projects in the master plan for gas exploration in Nam Con Son Basin, which is in the southern continental shelf of Vietnam.

In June 2015, the base of BK Thien Ung was inaugurated and installed at Thien Ung field.

BK Thien Ung, invested with over 1 billion USD in total, is set to become operational this November.

It will generate a maximum output of more than 3 million cubic metres of gas a day by 2019.

The project, built over more than two years, is the Vietsovpetro’s biggest project has constructed. It was invested in by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and Russian oil producer OAO Zarubezhneft.-VNA
