Vietnam’s organic sugar finds its way to Europe

HCM City (VNA) – TTC Attapeu Cane Sugar Co. Ltd,a Vietnamese-invested firm based in Attapeu province of Laos, has enteredstrategic cooperation with British firm ED&F Man Sugar Ltd to sell organicsugar to Europe.

The agreement was signed in Ho Chi Minh City onOctober 26.

Under the deal, TTC Attapeu, a subsidiary ofThanh Thanh Cong – Bien Hoa JSC, and its partner will focus on the supply andpurchase of two products, Organic Golden Cane Sugar and Golden Cane Sugar, infive years.

Organic Golden Cane Sugar is a productmanufactured at the TTC Attapeu factory in the 2018-2019 crop and has metorganic standards for all steps from cultivation to final processing.

Joaquin Munoz, an executive at ED&F ManSugar, said this product has been granted with an organic certification underthe US Department of Agriculture and the EU’s standards. 

He added that through the partnership with hisfirm, the products of TTC Attapeu have qualified for export to not only Europebut also North America and other demanding markets in the world.-VNA
