Hanoi (VNA) – Some Vietnamese universities may be named in Times HigherEducation (THE)’s World University Rankings in the next few years, arepresentative from THE said at a workshop in Hanoi on June 13.
JustinTay, THE’s Regional Director and General Manager (Asia), said he has studiedVietnam’s prospects in the rankings, and found that there is a rapid increaseof articles from Vietnamese higher education institutions published on internationalpublications.
Healso spoke of the success of Asian universities in building their brands andinternationalization.
PhamQuang Hung, head of the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MoET)’sInternational Cooperation Department, said through the workshop, domestichigher education institutions would learn more about THE’s World UniversityRankings, one of the most prestigious rankings in the world.
Heexpressed his hope that there will be Vietnamese higher education institutions inthe THE’s list.
HoangMinh Son, President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said hisuniversity has sent its statistics to THE to look for a seat in the rankings.
Asimilar workshop was also held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 12, aiming to helpdomestic universities set strategic targets and improve Vietnam’s highereducation reputation in the world.
WorldUniversity Rankings is the definitive list of the top universities globally, ratingmore than 1,250 institutions across 86 countries in 2019.
Itis the only global university league table to judge research-intensiveuniversities across each one of their core missions: teaching (the learningenvironment); research (volume, income and reputation), international outlook(staff, students and research); citations (research influence); and industryincome (knowledge transfer).-VNA
