Vietnamese, Thai navies enhance hydrographic cooperation

Hanoi (VNA) –
Sent. Lieut. Gen. Pham Minh Ngoc, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of theVietnam’s People Army (VPA), on August 9 urged the Vietnamese HydrographicOffice and the Hydrographic Department of the Royal Thai Navy to seekcooperation opportunities and soon sign a hydrographic cooperation between thetwo countries’ navies.

Ngoc made the suggestion ata reception for Vice Admiral Winai Maneeprag, Director General of the Thai HydrographicDepartment in Hanoi, where he pledged that leaders of the Vietnamese Ministryof National Defence and the VPA’s General Staff will create all possibleconditions for the two sides to promote their collaboration in the time ahead.

He said the relationshipbetween the naval forces of the two countries has been continuouslyconsolidated, as reflected through regular delegation exchanges and theeffective maintenance of cooperation mechanisms such as joint patrols at seaand information exchange via the hotline.

The affiliation hascontributed to enhancing mutual understanding and trust between the armies andpeople of Vietnam and Thailand, he said.

For his part, Winai expressedhis impression at the development of Vietnam’s hydrographic sector, andaffirmed that dis department supports Vietnam’s joining in the East Asia Hydrographic Commission.-VNA
