Rome (VNA) – A Vietnamese-style coffee shop will be opened soon in Turin,the capital city of Italy’snorthern region of Piemonte, the Honorary Consular of Vietnam in Turin SandraScagliotti said at a recent gathering on the occasion of the Vietnamesetraditional Lunar New Year festival (Tet).
The idea was first raised by agroup of Vietnamese students in Turinin June 2018. The Honorary Consular has worked with several partners, such asthe Vietnamese student association in Turin,the Italy-Vietnam science-culture centre and the Italy-Vietnam Chamber ofCommerce, to conduct necessary procedures for the Vietnamese cultural space.
To be located right inside thecomplex of the Vietnam Honorary Consular’s Office in Turin,the Caffe Viet will introduce to locals various coffee specialties of Vietnam, suchas egg coffee, coffee with coconut milk and organic coffee.
Not stopping there, the shop isexpected to become a gathering for the Vietnamese community in the northernregion of Italyand also Italians who love the Vietnamese culture, offering Vietnamese food,music along with book and newspapers.
At the Tet gathering, Vietnamese Ambassadorto Italy Nguyen Thi Bich Hue praised the contribution made by the Vietnamesecommunity and the Honorary Consular of Vietnam in Turin to the strategic partnership betweenthe two countries.
A representative from the Turin administration, AnnaMerlin, said cultural exchange events such as the Tet gathering provide goodopportunities for Italians to gain a better understanding of the Vietnamese cultureand people, thus cementing the friendship between the two countries. -VNA
