Hanoi (VNA) – Three Vietnamesesailors, who were rescued from captivity by the Philippines army, landed at NoiBai international airport in Hanoi on November 14.
Attacked and held hostage in Philippinewaters last February by Islamist militant group Abu Sayyaf, the threecrewmembers of the Giang Hai vessel – Bui Xuan Vien, Bui Trung Duc, and NguyenQuang Huy – were liberated and handed over to the Philippines army unit on TawiTawi island on November 10. Another sailor, Nguyen Huu Truong, was also rescuedbut died due to illness.
The Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippinestook charge of the three men and the body of the deceased from November 12.
At Noi Bai airport, a representative fromthe Consular Department under the Foreign Ministry said Truong’s body remainedin Manila, with the Vietnam Embassy working to complete paperwork to transferhim to Vietnam.-VNA
