New Delhi (VNA) – PresidentTran Dai Quang received General Secretary Sudhakar Reddy of the Communist Partyof India (CPI) and General Secretary Sitaram Yechury of the Communist Party ofIndia (Marxist) (CPIM) in New Delhi on March 4 as part of his three-day State visitto India.

President Quang thanked the CPIand CPIM for their valuable support to the Communist Party of Vietnam andVietnamese people during their past struggle for independence as well as thecurrent process of national construction and development.

The President also showed hisappreciation for Yechury who took to the streets to join demonstrations insupport of Vietnam during wartime.

Reddy and Yechury, for theirpart, congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic development. They said theywill continue working to maintain a close friendship between the people of thetwo nations and foster the implementation of Vietnam-India agreements reachedduring this visit to further expand the long-standing bilateral ties.

President Quang took thisoccasion to invite Reddy and Yechury to visit Vietnam at a convenient time.

The same day, President Quangalso hosted a reception for President of the Indo-Vietnam FriendshipParliamentary Group Dr. Keshava Rao and Vietnam’s Honorary Consul in Nepal Dr.Rajesh Kazi Shrestha.

The Vietnamese leadercongratulated Dr. Rao upon his new election as the group’s president, expressinghis hope that, as a prestigious Indian senator, he will play an active role instrengthening the bilateral relationship.

The Indo-Vietnam FriendshipParliamentary Group was formed as a result of the India visit by NationalAssembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in December 2016, reflecting the two legislativebodies’ good relations in recent years, Rao said.

As the chair of the group, hevowed to bolster delegation exchanges and cooperation between the parliaments’committees and within the group as well as their partnership at internationaland regional parliamentary forums of which both sides are members.-VNA
