Vietnamese NA Chairwoman urges for closer legislative ties with UEA

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan suggested closer coordination between the legislative bodies of Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in implementing cooperation agreements between the two nations, towards strengthening bilateral ties.

Abu Dhabi (VNA) – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan suggestedcloser coordination between the legislative bodies of Vietnam and the UnitedArab Emirates (UAE) in implementing cooperation agreements between the twonations, towards strengthening bilateral ties.

At a meeting with President of the UAEFederal National Council Amal Al Qubaisi on December 12 on the sidelinesof the 11th Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament, Ngan affirmedVietnam treasures friendship and cooperation with the UAE, expressing herdelight at the development of Vietnam-UAE relations. 

She lauded the preparation for the summit,contributing to improving the role and position of the UAE in the region andthe world. 

While highlighting the potential for the twosides to enhance economic links, especially in trade, investment,petroleum and labour, NA Chairwoman Ngan said the UAE is likely to become oneof Vietnam’s leading economic partners. 

For her part, Al Qubaisi shared her impressionsof Vietnam after her trip to the country in 2015. 

Appreciating proposals given by the Vietnameseleader at the summit, she said Vietnam’s experience shared at the summit aregood lessons, contributing to the event’s agenda. 

On the basis of effective cooperation in manyfields, the two countries should further expand connections in economy,trade and labour, she said. 

Al Qubaisi noted in her country’s foreignpolicy, Vietnam has an important role in Asia and the Vietnamese delegation’sattendance at the Summit plays a vital role in bolstering bilateral relations.

The two legislatures should boost ties,contributing to the two Governments’ efforts to promote cooperation between thetwo nations, Amal Al Qubaisi.

The UAE is one of Vietnam’s leading partners intrade, investment and labour in the Middle East and Vietnam’s seventh largestimporter in the world.

Two-way trade in 2015 and the first nine monthsof this year hit 6.3 billion USD and 4.3 billion USD, respectively. The UAE isalso a big investor from the Persian Gulf in Vietnam, with total registeredcapital of 4 billion USD. At present, about 5,000 Vietnamese labourers work inthe UAE.-VNA
