Vietnamese lychees welcomed in Malaysia

KualaLumpur (VNA) – The first container of the 2018 Vietnamese lychee crop arrivedin Malaysia on July 2 and was warmly welcomed by consumers.

The batchwas imported by Kuala Lumpur-based Billyan Global Resources and Vietnam’s HanoiTrade Corporation (Hapro).

After seeingthe high demand for the fruit, Billyan Global Resources has decided to increaseVietnamese lychee imports for sale in Kuala Lumpur and nearby states, such asSelangor.

In the nearfuture, an additional 20 containers, each weighing nearly 10 tonnes, will bedelivered to Malaysia for consumption.

Back in2015, imported Vietnamese lychees also became a popular sell in the city of Klang.

Apart fromMalaysia, Vietnamese lychees have also been present in several demandingmarkets such as the US, Australia, Japan, and Europe.

VietnameseCommercial Counsellor in Malaysia Pham Quoc Anh said the Vietnamese TradeOffice has partnered with authorities to bring Vietnamese lychees and variousother local goods – such as fruits and vegetables, seafood, and processed foods– to Malaysia.
