Vietnamese, Lao, Cambodian youths seek stronger cooperation

More than 30 delegates representing the youth of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia gathered at a conference in Ho Chi Minh City on September 8 to share experience in organising activities of youth unions.

HCM City (VNA) – More than 30 delegatesrepresenting the youth of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia gathered at a conferencein Ho Chi Minh City on September 8 to share experience in organising activitiesof youth unions.

The event is part of activities marking the 55th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations, 40 years of thesigning of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cambodia ties.

The participants focused on discussions on measures toenhance the efficiency of education among youngsters on traditional friendshipand comprehensive cooperation among the three countries, as well as ways to promoteconnectivity among young entrepreneurs of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

They also shared experience in supporting youngstersin setting up shop and beginning startups, along with solutions to fostercooperation among the youth of the three countries in volunteer activities forthe community and social welfare.

Le Quoc Phong, First Secretary of the Ho Chi MinhCommunist Youth Union Central Committee, said that the youth organisations haveshared sound cooperation both bilaterally and multilaterally. They have alsocoordinated closely at multilateral youth forums such as the ASEAN, ASEAN Plus,the Mekong Sub-region Youth Forum and the World Federation of Democratic Youth.

Nguyen Van Thang, Secretary of the Ho Chi MinhCommunist Youth Union of Hanoi, said that the youth organisations should focuson three major issues: popularising the Party and State’s policy in encouraginginnovative startups; supporting the youth in accessing capital and connectingdomestic and foreign startup communities; and providing policy advices insupport of young people’s startups.

The Lao delegation suggested that youngsters of thethree countries should alternately hold a forum to share experience in startupand attracting investment.

Meanwhile, the Cambodian delegation proposed theformation of a young entrepreneur council of Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, and anannual forum for young businesspeople to meet and exchange.

In the framework of the conference from September 7-9,the participants laid flowers at the statue of late President Ho Chi Minh andvisited a number of historical sites in Ho Chi Minh City as well as the VietnamNational University – HCM City and the Saigon Hi-Tech Park.

The Vietnam-Lao-Cambodia Youth Cooperation Forum was firstheld in Vietnam in 2014 as an initiative of the Ho Chi Minh Communist YouthUnion. The annual forum has been held in turn among the three countries.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
