Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese and Indonesian army and navy forcesshould promote cooperation, particularly in addressing non-traditional securitychallenges and fishermen’s violations in overlapping waters, said Chief of theGeneral Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang.
He made the statement while receiving an Indonesian navy delegation led byChief of the Naval Staff Admiral Ade Supandi in Hanoi on November 28.
Giang affirmed that the Vietnam People’s Army will create favorable conditionsfor naval forces of both sides to deepen collaboration in the coming time.
The two countries have enjoyed fruitful bilateral defence relations in the pastyears, especially after they inked a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateraldefence cooperation in 2010, Giang noted, adding that the move has helpedenhance mutual understanding and trust as well as bolster Vietnam-Indonesiastrategic partnership.
For his part, Ade Supandi wanted to increase exchanges between the two sides tobuild sound bilateral relations, making positive contributions to the twocountries’ ties for regional peace and stability.-VNA
