Vientiane (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos held afund-raising event on October 25 in support of people affecting by the recentrecord flooding in central Vietnam.
Vietnamese people living in Vientiane, Vietnameseenterprises operating in Laos and embassy staff donated a total of over 750million VND (32,200 USD).
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung spokehighly of the support by the Vietnamese community in Laos, affirming that theembassy will soon send the money to affected families.
In addition, Vientiane-based Phat Tich Pagoda held a requiem for soldiers,officers and civilians killed in the recent devastating floods and landslidesin the central region.
As of October 24 evening, heavy rains and floods claimed 119lives, and left 21 others missing./.
