Vietnamese, Haitian leaders promote partnership

To realisefurther development, both sides have committed to facilitating all-levelvisits and diplomatic connections between their countries. Through theJoint Commission for Trade and Investment, they planned to expandcoordination in areas of potential, such as telecommunications, foodsecurity, energy, trade and health care.

Both host and guest also pledged to nurture two-way trade and investment on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

Discussing regional and global issues of shared interest, the leadersagreed to support each other at international organisations andmultilateral forums for peace, stability and development in theirregions and the world at large.

PM Laurent Lamothe hailedDung’s visit, which he said has laid a firm foundation for the two-wayrelationship to grow through the establishment of legal mechanisms andframeworks conducive to cooperation. He revealed that negotiationswere underway for a framework agreement on cooperation, investmentpromotion and protection and a visa waiver for diplomatic and officialpassport holders.

After the talks, the two PMs signed theVietnam – Haiti joint statement and witnessed the signing of aMemorandum of Understanding on joint energy activities./.
