Hanoi (VNA) – An international painting contest themed “I love Hanoi –A Peaceful City” was held in Hanoi on May 27 in response to InternationalChildren’s Day (June 1).
The contest attracted the participation of nearly 100children, aged 5-15, from Hanoi and several countries like India, Russia, SriLanka and the Philippines who are living in the Vietnamese capital city.
The event was a chance to encourage the creativeness ofchildren and strengthen friendship and solidarity between Vietnamese andforeign children.
In her opening remarks, Tran Thi Phuong, Vice President ofthe Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations, said that peace is a commonaspiration of mankind.
She expressed her hope that children bring into full playtheir capacity and understanding to draw paintings highlighting the love forpeace, the nation, the nature and Hanoi – the city of peace.
Within the framework of the contest, 500 photos taken byphotographers from 20 nations were exhibited.
Director of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in HanoiNatalia Shafinskya said that through this contest and photos, the organisingboard wants to introduce uniqueness and similarities of children from differentnations as well as their vulnerability, and emphasises the responsibility ofpeople to protect the future generations.-VNA
