Phnom Penh (VNA) – The productsof Vietnam’s Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company (BFC) have contributed tomodernizing Cambodia’s agriculture, said Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister MenSam An.
The Cambodian leader made the remark during a ceremony for BFC and Cambodia’sYetak Group to sign a strategic cooperation agreement in Phnom Penh on March 21.
She spoke highly of Vietnam’s assistance toCambodia’s agricultural sector through transferring advanced techniques andproviding organic products serving agricultural production.
According to the Deputy PM, BFC’s fertilizer hasbeen widely used by Cambodian farmers, helping improve the efficiency ofagricultural production, reduce production costs and raise profit.
She also thanked the firm’s active contributionsto social welfare activities in her country, including support for floodvictims and disadvantaged pupils.
BFC General Director Le Quoc Phong said the firmwill continue its price support policy and provision of technical assistanceto Cambodia farmers, helping them improve the productivity and quality offarm produce, and increase profits.
Over the past 15 years, BFC’s cooperation withthe Yetak Group was efficient. The volume of Binh Dien’s “Dau Trau” fertilizer consumedin Cambodia increased to over 100,000 tonnes a year at present from only 2,000tonnes in 2000.
The fertilizer has been used in 26 provinces andcities across Cambodia, affirming its position in the market.
Based in HCM City since 1973, BFC engages in themanufacture and trade of fertilizer, cattle-feed and aqua-products. It alsoproduces, processes, and packages insecticides. It accounts for about 30percent of the country’s NPK fertilizer demand.
With one plant in Long An, and four subsidiariesin other provinces, BFC is capable of producing over one million tonnes offertilizer each year.-VNA
