Hanoi (VNA) – The Embassy ofVietnam in Malaysia has sent a diplomatic note to relevant ministries andagencies in Malaysia requesting official information about the detention of twoVietnamese fishing vessels with 28 fishermen on board on April 2.
The Embassy is keeping close watch on theincident in order to verify information related to the case and to take propermeasures to protect the arrested Vietnamese fishermen.
Regarding the reported arrest of seven personsalleged to be Vietnamese in Osaka, Japan, the Consulate General of Vietnam inOsaka said on April 7 that Osaka police has confirmed they are Vietnamesenationals.
The Consulate General said the policerefused to provide details on the ground that the case is under investigation.The Consulate is cooperating closely with Japanese authorities to protect the legitimaterights of the detained Vietnamese citizens.
Meanwhile, Singapore police has affirmedthat the death of a Vietnamese citizen after falling from the 15th floor of Hotel Boss in Singapore on March 29 was a suicide, according to theVietnamese Embassy in Singapore.
The Embassy is working with concernedagencies of Singapore to complete legal procedures and help the victim’s familywith funeral arrangements.-VNA
